BOIMHI

The Better Outcomes in Mental Health Initiative (BOiMHI) was introduced in 2001 by the Commonwealth Department of Health and Aging. Its aim is to improve community access to quality primary mental health services by providing better education and training for general practitioners (GPs) and more support for them from allied health professionals and psychiatrists. Further funding of $142.7 million over four years has been provided to continue and expand the program to 2008-09. A funding extension has been granted for the BOIMH program until Decemebr 2009.
