Medical Specialist Outreach Assistance Program
The Medical Specialist Outreach Assitance Program (MSOAP) is funded by the Commonwealth Department of Health & Ageing. The NSW Rural Doctors Network (RDN) is responsible for the administration of MSOAP for 'private specialist' services in NSW.
The program aims to increase access to specialist medical services in rural areas. MSOAP funding does not pay a fee-for-service for consultation sessions. Visiting specialists are therefore expected to bill patients at their Fee-for-Service rate. Costs incurred in providing the visiting service will be reimbursed in line with the Department of Health & Ageing MSOAP Payment Guidelines as updated from time to time. |
